Put-in-Bay in March
It’s cold again today. Every once in awhile I swear I see a bit of white stuff floating around. Last week we had rain. Torrential rain, as if we were in a rain forest. I look around the back of the construction zone of the Anchor Inn Boutique Hotel. There is siding, windows, and a port-a-john behind the cottage. Workmen are EVERYWHERE. And mud. So much mud! It’s now inside the building, our office and the cottage. Pieces of mud stick to the carpet of the car, and I no longer own any boots that remain unadorned by mud.
I dream of when the Anchor Inn Boutique Hotel is finished. I can see all the window boxes filled with their happy flowers waving in the sun-filled days; as if they were as carefree as the tourists driving by in the golf carts. I can see myself watering the new plants, welcoming guests to the new Anchor Inn, and marveling at how well constructed the building is. And I can see how nice the colors have come together and that the night lighting really is attractive.
I can see the locust tree budding with the hope of another season. I made such a fuss to save that that tree! We planned the driveway, entry, porch and sidewalks around that tree. We even put a drain in the concrete to make sure the water runoff got to the roots.
That tree will make some of the guest rooms feel like they are in a tree-house. And I can see the guests enjoying their new private balconies along with their guest rooms.
The thumping of hammers putting up siding brings me back to February. From here it looks like there is so much to do, but I am assured by Roger Miller and the Roger Miller crews that we are right on target; on target to open in May, 2017. And I can’t wait to share it with you!
